The company saw a change in ownership after the death of Charles Tidy in 1947, with Elliott taking over as president in 1948. Elliott’s son Nick, an engineer at General Electric, joined the business in 1951 and eventually bought out his father 13 years later. Following the passing of his father in 1974, Nick Lye assumed the role of president, with his brother Douglas by his side. In 1983, Janet Lye, Elliott’s granddaughter, took over as the new president of Tidy’s Flowers, marking yet another chapter in the company’s storied history.
